Holland America to contribute goods from cruise ships to needy

Holland looks for indoor track marks

Four Rescued from Dutch Penthouse Fire

Rotterdam, Holland - The Dutch Fire Department rescued four people from a burning apartment in Rotterdam early Sunday morning.

It happened in the 1000 block of the harbor around 7:45 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke in the accommodation furthermore hallway.

Later getting inside, three people were saved from the burning aparment also the fourth was helped from the hallway.

One of the residents had managed to knock down the fire with an extinguisher. Firefighters finished putting it out.

Investigators say the fire began in the stovetop area of the kitchen.

The accommodation sustained almost $25,000 in damage as a consequence no one can live their until repairs are raised.

The Red Cross was called in to help the people who lived there.

Holocaust survivor shows courage in recounting painful tale

Marion Blumenthal Lazan, the author of "Four Perfect Pebbles," was 6 years old in 1939 when German soldiers invaded Holland and imprisoned her Jewish family in a concentration camp. She didn't regain her full freedom again until the mid-1940s. Lazan spoke last week to students at the Spring-Ford Seventh Grade Center on the same day President Barack Obama was inaugurated as the nation's 44th president. Lazan gave a similar presentation the next day at Pottsgrove High School.
